Manipur women stripped, paraded; AAP calls bandh tomorrow

Days after a video of two women from the Kuki-Zomi community being paraded naked and sexually assaulted in Manipur surfaced on social media, Gujarat AAP working president Chaitar Vasava on Friday gave a call for a bandh in the 14 tribal districts of the state on July 23.

The MLA from tribal constituency of Dediapada in Narmada, Vasava said, “If PM Narendra Modi chooses to go on foreign trips and remain silent about this gruesome act… it is disturbing and also encourages such crime. President Droupadi Murmu, being a woman, has not said a word… neither has BJP leader Smriti Irani or Home Minister Amit Shah…”

He demanded that Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey should resign, taking moral responsibility for the incident. ENS
