Man commits suicide at SSG Hospital

Vasava said: “I left him at the emergency ward and went to pay for the X-ray charges. Due to the long queue,it took time for me to return and when I came back,he had left the place. I went around the hospital in his search and then thought he might have got tensed and went back home,” said Vasava.

It was only at 8.30 pm that family members informed Vasava that Anil had not returned home.

Around 10.45 pm,the ward boys found Anil dead inside the toilet in ward B-4.

“He had used a scarf which he tied to the ventilator rod to hang himself,” said a police officer at the Raopura police station.

The body was immediately sent for a post-mortem.

The hospital authorities said they were unaware of his identity.

“Some of the staff members said they believed he was accompanying some patient in ward B-4,” said Pravina Thakkar,Medico Legal Officer (MLO) at SSG Hospital.

The exact cause for the suicide is still unclear. Vasava said: “He had undergone an appendix operation a few years ago and the recent pain and the possibility of another operation might have perplexed him.”

The entire family resided at Warasia and earned a living as daily wage labourers.
