A woman from Mehsana, a two-year-old boy believed to be her son and a man from Banaskantha were found dead in a dam on the outskirts of Gondal town of Rajkot district Saturday. Prima facie, the two, who were married to different individuals, were in a relationship with each other and died by suicide, police said.

Sanjay Thakor and Kinjal Thakor, both 24 years old, were found dead in Veri Talav — a dam on the outskirts of Gondal, police said. Along with them, a two-year-old child, believed to be Kinjal’s son, was also found floating in the dam. After being alerted about the floating bodies, police retrieved them with the help of local fire brigade and shifted them to a hospital in Gondal town.

“The man and the woman were married to different individuals but primary investigation suggests that apparently there was a relationship between them. In fact, a missing person’s report was filed at Mehsana police station some time ago after the woman went missing,” S. C. Damor, inspector in-charge at ‘A’ Division police station in Gondal town, told The Indian Express.

“Prima facie, this looks like a case of deaths due to suicide. However, their real cause of deaths can be ascertained only when their post-mortem reports are available,” he added.
