Light rainfall across state from Nov 24-27: IMD

The Met department Tuesday forecasted light to moderate rain across Gujarat from November 24 to 27.

Light rain with thundershowers in South Gujarat, including Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad on November 24 is expected to be followed by light to moderate rain in all the districts of the region, in the districts of North Gujarat including Anand, Panchmahal and Dahod, and isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra-Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath and Botad on November 25, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated.

In addition to these districts, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Mahisagar are also expected to witness light to moderate rainfall on November 26, the weather forecast said.

On Tuesday, the state witnessed above normal maximum and minimum temperatures with a variation as high as 6 degrees recorded in the night time temperatures.

Amreli, Porbandar and Rajkot recorded a minimum temperature of 22.2, 24.4 and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively — all six degrees above normal temperature.

Other cities to record higher minimum temperatures include Surat (24 degrees Celsius) and Ahmedabad (21.8 degrees Celsius) — both five degrees above normal.

The lowest temperature of 16 degrees Celsius was recorded at Naliya, followed by Bhuj and Kandla Airport, both at 19.2 degrees Celsius.

Veraval at 36.4 degrees Celsius, Rajkot 36.1, Porbandar 36, Surat and Bhuj at 34.7, and Surendranagar and Dwarka 34.4 at degrees Celsius — all mostly higher than the normal — were the maximum temperatures recorded Tuesday.
