The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast light rainfall on Sunday and Monday in 10 districts, including Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, likely to cause a fall in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius for the next five days. Given the extent of damage of crops in last week's unseasonal rain, the state director of agriculture on Saturday issued an advisory to farmers to either shift their harvested crops to safer places or to cover them with plastic or tarpaulin sheets, to protect them. The department also advised to build a mud bund around the stack of crops to save them from flooding and "avoid spraying pesticides or fertiliser". The IMD predicted "light rain at isolated places" in the districts of Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Ahmedabad, Mahisagar, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, Junagadh and Gir Somnath besides the Union Territory of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli on Sunday. All these districts, except Amreli, have a similar forecast for Monday while the rest of the state and Diu would have "dry weather", the forecast said.
