Kin of fishermen fear for their safety in Pak jails

The family members of six fishermen of Valsad who are lodged in Pakistani jails are praying for their safety after hearing about Sarabjit Singh’s death.

The family members of six fishermen of Valsad who are lodged in Pakistani jails are praying for their safety after hearing about Sarabjit Singh’s death.

Mahesh Harpati and Ramesh Patel from Tigara village,and Sanjay Sorthi,Manoj Harpati,Shailesh Patel and Kishor Sorthi from Kalgam village,have been lodged in Landhi jail in Karachi since February this year after being apprehended by Pakistani security personnel in high seas.

Munniben,wife of Manoj Harpati,said,“After the death of Sarabjit,we are tense. We pray to our deity for his safety and early release.”

A mother of two,Munniben said that the fisheries department officials in Valsad had taken details,assuring them of his release.

Jagdish Tandel,Fisheries Superintendent at Valsad,said,“We have made verification report of Mahesh and others with the village sarpanch. We have sent the report to our head office in Gandhinagar which will be forwarded to the Central government. Later,they will put it before their Pakistani counterparts.”
