Dr Kanubhai Kalsaria, the rebel BJP MLA from Mahuva who has been spearheading the agitation by farmers against the proposed Nirma cement plant in Mahuva, was on Friday thrown out of the Assembly by marshals acting on the Speakers orders.
The MLA was also suspended from the House by the Speaker for rushing to well after he was disallowed to raise the issue of protesters from Mahuva being allegedly roughed up by police in Gandhinagar.
It all began when state Congress president and MLA Arjun Modhwadia raised a point of order over alleged police atrocities on children and women of Mahuva while they were trying to come to the Assembly.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dilip Sanghani objected to Modhwadias attempt to raise the issue and requested the Speaker not to allow him to speak on the same. At this point,Kalsaria trooped into the Well near Speakers chair and demanded that he be allowed to speak on the issue.
Speaker Ganpat Vasava then ordered the sergeants to take Kalsaria out of the House.
Sanghani then proposed to suspend Kalsaria and was supported by all BJP MLAs. The Speaker agreed and suspended the Mahuva MLA from the House.
Following this,Congress staged a walkout from the House.
Later,Kalsaria said,As an MLA,I have the right to speak on any issue concerning me in the House and the Speaker cannot stop us as per rules. Speaker intentionally stopped me from speaking. It is an insult of democracy and violation of human rights.
Its very unfortunate that the state government has not shown any sympathy even for children and women, who were thrashed and arrested forcibly. But they will keep keep fighting for their rights, he said.
On the Supreme Court order to form a panel to
visit the site of proposed cement plant at Mahuva,
the BJP MLA said,Finally,we have got justice from
the apex court. At last, there is a shown some ray of
hope. We have won half the battle but will continue our fight till the state government does not withdraw mining lease from Nirma on our land.
