Income Tax (IT) department today claimed to have unearthed "unaccounted" income of Rs 35.10 crore and seized Rs 1.34 crore cash during raids at a transport group here,department officials said. In all,26 premises of a transport group spread across the state were raided today for allegedly evading tax,they said. "A totol of 26 premises of the group spread across Ahmedabad,Surat and Vadodara districts of the state were being searched and surveyed,as part of nationwide operation by Income-Tax department," I-T officials said. "During the search and survey operations,the group has admitted undisclosed income of Rs 8.1 crore in Vadodara,Rs 25 crore in Surat,and Rs 2 crore in Ahmedabad," they said. "We have sealed around 5 lockers of the group in Vadodara,9 in Ahmedabad and 5 in Surat,besides seizing cash and jewellery and seizing 19 lockers belonging to the group," they said. In Surat,jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh was also seized during the search and survey operations,I-T officials said. Around nine establishments each of the group were covered in Vadodara and Ahmedabad,and eight premises in Surat,while one each in Mumbai and Bangalore,besides the two at other locations,during this nationwide operation,they added.
