The father of Javed alias Pranesh Pillai,who was killed by the Ahmedabad police along with Ishrat Jahan and two others in June 2004,filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court on Thursday,demanding a CBI probe into the encounter. This is the second such petition. Earlier,Shamima Kausar,the mother of Ishrat Jahan,had filed a plea for the same,which is being heard by Justice Kalpesh Jhaveri. Justice H N Devani ordered to club the two petitions. Acting on the petition filed by Shamima,Justice Jhaveri had already appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of three senior IPS officers to probe into the incident and the allegations levelled by Shamima. Amrish Patel,the lawyer of Gopinath Pillai,said,We have also demanded compensation to the family of Javed Pillai the petition will be heard by Justice Jhaveri.
