IPL gambling case: Two caught inside stadium for betting

The case has now been transferred to the Ahmedabad Cybercrime branch.

TWO persons were caught allegedly betting during te IPL match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrise Hyderabad in the Presidential Gallery of the Narendra Modi stadium in Motera on Sunday. According to sub inspector V G Dabhi Chandkheda Police Station “The arrests took place in the exclusive Presidential Gallery, the only area in the stadium with internet access. These incidents occurred during the matches between Gujarat Titans and Sunrise Hyderabad.”

According to the police the accused have been identified as Shubham Kaushikbhai Parmar, a 28-year-old businessman residing in the Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad. He was caught betting online with a mobile phone worth Rs. 10,000 during the Gujarat Titans match.

The second arrest was of Priyank Narendrabhai Darji, a 34-year-old resident of Gandhinagar, who was found betting on the Sunrise Hyderabad match with a mobile phone valued at Rs. 35,000.

Both individuals were apprehended by the Chandkheda Police Station Surveillance team during patrolling in the exclusive Presidential Gallery. \

The arrests were made under section 12(a) of the Gambling Act, and legal action is being taken against them.

The case has now been transferred to the Ahmedabad Cybercrime branch.
