Industries in central Gujarat have fared well during the economic slowdown in comparison to their peers in terms of moving up the business process value chain,claimed a yet-to-be-released report Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Deliotte study: Report on the growth strategies employed by fast growing enterprises in Gujarat. CII-Deliotte had organised a workshop for some of the fast growing enterprises in Vadodara and the industrial district of Vitthal Udyognagar to understand the growth priorities and strategies in this region during the time of recession. The industries from central Gujarat,mostly in Vadodara,scored well over their peers from other regions mainly in terms of entrepreneurs being highly qualified,inclined to systematic working and professional environments,advocates of systems and processes,believer of constant value addition to customer via services and intergraded product offerings,measured preference of the businesses using business excellence tools and restructured businesses constantly,said a press statement issued by CII. The study will be released as part of a business leadership summit to be held in Ahmedabad on July 24. Industries in central Gujarat implemented business ethics and corporate governance when the large parts of Saurashtra and southern Gujarat were just talking about it, said Atul Garg,Chairman of CII-Deliotte Business Leadership Summit. He added,The industry in the central Gujarat region focused on organisational change,transformation and risk appetite,moving up the product value chain,innovations in manufacturing and constant re-engineering. Increased professionalism as well as human resource management was also high on the priority of the companies in and around Vadodara. The striking difference is in the forward looking approaches of the industry in Vadodara with respect to human resource, Garg added.
