Three confirmed cases of Cholera in Vadodara’s Padra Municipality area on Thursday has prompted the district health department to initiate a surveillance and check water supply lines in the area, while over 20 other suspected cases are undergoing treatment at the Padra referral hospital.

Vadodara Chief District Health Officer Dr Minaxi Chauhan, who visited the affected areas in Padra Thursday, said that three patients including a minor had been confirmed for Cholera and are undergoing treatment at Vadodara’s SSG hospital.

While about 22 to 25 suspected cases are in the Padra referral hospital and three have tested positive, Chauhan said it was since July 15 that the municipality “witnessed an increased number of patients showing symptoms of Cholera like diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain”.

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) until Tuesday also reported a total of four confirmed cases of Cholera so far.
