State police chief,DGP S S Khandwawala told mediapersons in Gandhinagar on Saturday,“We have almost confirmed information about Headley and his accomplice’s visit to Gujarat and their stay in Ahmedabad for a couple of days.”

He,however, refused to comment on the number of personnel in the special team, saying,“It’s not the number, but quality of officers that matters in such operations.”

The state police, said Khandwawala, are in constant touch with the National Investigation Agency (NIA),which recently registered a case against Headley and his Canadian associate,Tahawwur Hussain Rana,as well as the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB). “We exchange information with the NIA on a regular basis,” he added.

When asked about the dates, time and other specific details about Headley’s visit to Ahmedabad,Khandwawala said: “We have got some information in this regard from our own sources. We are, however, trying to verify it. It is a sensitive issue and we would like to share this information with you only after we get it confirmed.”

About the possibility of any connection between Headley and company and the 26/7 serials blasts in Ahmedabad, the state police chief said,“It is too early to comment on that. We are investigating the possibility.”
