Amid heavy rains in Gujarat’s Vadodara and the subsequent flooding of railway tracks, the Western Railway (WR) has cancelled at least 48 trains up to August 31. Due to heavy rains in Saurashtra, especially Morbi, 20 trains on August 29 and 30 have been cancelled by WR’s Rajkot Division.
Some of the major trains cancelled include the Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, the Bandra Terminus-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Superfast Express, the Saurashtra Janta Express, the New Delhi-Mumbai Central Tejas Rajdhani, and the Puri-Gandhidham Superfast Express.While the Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Bandra Terminus Garib Rath Godhra station will be short terminated between Godhra and Bandra terminus, the return train will short originate from Godhra station instead of Bandra.
Meanwhile, the Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapu-ram Rajdhani Express will run via an altered route through Nagda-Ujjan-Sant Hirdaram Nagar-Khandwa-Manmad-Igatpuri-Kalyan and Panvel.
According to the information, 14 trains short terminated while six short originated and 23 were diverted. Meanwhile, the IMD has warned of intense rainfall over the next five days across the state.
