The Kheda District Police Tuesday began an investigation into an alleged loot of cash worth Rs 1 crore from a man, who was travelling from Kheda to Ahmedabad in an autorickshaw, on NH-48 on Monday. The man, in his police complaint, said that the incident took place in the afternoon near Betdi Lat village on NH-48 in Kheda. Police said he works for a granary trader based in Ahmedabad. According to the police, the man, who had withdrawn the money from a branch of a private bank in Kheda, was allegedly waylaid by four men in a van. Police said that as per the complainant, he was also assaulted by the men who snatched the bag containing the cash before decamping with the money. Providing details of the case, a senior officer of the Kheda district police said, “The Kheda town police station has registered a case of loot and started an investigation into the matter”. “Different teams have been formed to track down the accused and we are also scanning CCTV footage for clues. We are hoping that we will get a breakthrough in the case,” the officer added further.
