DGP Sahay underlined the importance of human intelligence not just for specialised units, but all police personnel, sources said.
DGP Vikas Sahay on Wednesday headed a meeting with senior officers of the Gujarat Police through video-conferencing, following the alert in the wake of the blast in Delhi on Monday.
A statement from his office said, “With emphasis on ensuring citizen security, the meeting discussed in detail about strengthening the entire infrastructure of all field units including ATS.” Sahay also reviewed the performance of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of all districts.
DGP Sahay underlined the importance of human intelligence not just for specialised units, but all police personnel, sources said.
The sources said Sahay issued instructions on maintaining a registers of accused persons, including those with criminal history, who have been arrested earlier, especially in serious crimes related to terrorism activities, as well as those booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act (TADA), and other major crimes especially those involving drugs, arms, fake currency, and to monitor their whereabouts and activities.
