The verbal war between six-term BJP MP Mansukh Vasava from Bharuch and AAP’s Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava took a new turn when Mansukh responded to a recent comment made by Chaitar regarding the MP’s “inability to bring development” to his Lok Sabha constituency. In a media interaction, Mansukh said, “It is no mean feat to have earned the (BJP) party ticket for six consecutive terms and even won the seat; Chaitar Vasava has won one seat in Dediapada and that too because somewhere the Congress was weak and there were detractors in all political parties who helped him win… He is just a frog in the well, trying to leap out. He should have the sensibility to speak about a six-term MP but he is mad.” In response, Chaitar said, “Mansukhbhai can’t even break a wafer (papad) in his party and his language is unparliamentary… He is a senior MP and he has not insulted an MLA of the state but the entire tribal community and the constituency of Dediapada…” The two have been at loggerheads since the beginning of this year with Chaitar recently announcing his plan to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Bharuch next year.

Feeling at Home

Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal, who took charge on July 24 following her transfer from the Allahabad High Court, on Thursday recalled that she completes a month at the HC today. Near the end of the day’s proceedings, she was heard saying in the open court, “How time flies… actually lagta hai (feels like) I was here (at Gujarat HC) always.” As the saying often goes, “time flies when you’re having fun”.
