IN A unique initiative, the nearly 1,800 prisoners at Vadodara Central Jail watched a Gujarati film, ‘Lalo’, in the presence of the cast and makers of the movie on Wednesday night. The inmates watched the film on a big screen set up inside the prison compound as part of an initiative by Vadodara Lok Sabha BJP MP Dr Hemang Joshi. Vadodara Jail Superintendent Usha Rada said the theme of the film was “apt” for the inmates as the story revolves around a man who chooses the right path after being led astray in bad company.“The inmates can certainly understand through the movie that life can be lived in either of the two ways – right or wrong – but the film eventually shows how choosing the right path can bring about a change in lives of the people.” Among the film’s cast members present at the screening was Gujarati actor Shruhad Goswami, who plays the role of Lord Krishna in the movie and has received an enthusiastic response from audiences for his portrayal.
