Gujarat confidential: On Popular Demand

RMC Standing Committee chairman Jaimin Thakar is hopeful that the civic body will win the title suits just like how it had in the case of Race Course in the past.

Announcing in the Assembly that two new Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus routes will be provided to each legislators in their respective constituencies within a week’s time, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Harsh Sanghavi asked all the MLAs to give names of two new routes that they wanted to start in their constituencies.

However, he also added that the MLAs should demand the two routes based on popular demand and not on the basis of one or two persons’ recommendations. “If no load (traffic) was found on those routes, then the routes will be automatically discontinued. So, make the demand accordingly,” Sanghavi said.

The Rs 118-crore land deal between the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and a private firm in a 2021 Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) for a plot of land at Nana Mava Chowk in Rajkot city has been hung fire after two families moved the court claiming they, and not the civic body, were the rightful owners of the plot.

The private group has not paid the balance Rs 101 crore to the civic body saying RMC needs to get the title of the plot cleared. RMC Standing Committee chairman Jaimin Thakar is hopeful that the civic body will win the title suits just like how it had in the case of Race Course in the past.
