Jam Saheb Shatrushalyasinhji, a former first-class cricketer from the erstwhile royal family of Jamnagar, has joined the voices seeking separation of cricket from politics in light of India's recent face-off with Pakistan at the Asia Cup trophy. Despite winning, Indian players had refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman. In a statement Friday, Shatrushalyasinhji said, “The game of cricket is a gentleman's sport, and which should never be played as anything else. Therefore, we must accept that cricket does not have any provision for a political aspect.”
