Gujarat confidential: Additional Charge

The government communication notifying transfers of senior police officers in Gujarat Monday mentioned that ADGP Rajkumar Pandian was transferred from the post of ADGP CID (Crime & Railways) to the post of ADGP (Law and Order).

The government communication notifying transfers of senior police officers in Gujarat Monday mentioned that ADGP Rajkumar Pandian was transferred from the post of ADGP CID (Crime & Railways) to the post of ADGP (Law and Order). Pandian replaced senior IPS officer Shamsher Singh, who was holding the post of DGP (Law and Order). The notification, however, did not state if Pandian, who holds additional charge as ADGP (SC/ST Cell), will continue with the additional charge or not. It was, however, learnt that Pandian, as of now, continues to hold the additional charge. The notification, notably, stated that Shamsher Singh will continue to hold additional charge of Director, ACB, Ahmedabad. Recently, Pandian was involved in a row with Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani after the latter alleged that Pandian had misbehaved with him. Mevani also demanded Pandian’s removal from the post of ADGP (SC/ST Cell).

Ups And Downs

With the Surat diamond industry facing recession, Rajya Sabha MP and diamond merchant Govind Dholakia, in a bid to encourage the people working in the industry, released a video asking them to be patient. “Each and every business has its ups and downs. I have been in the industry for 60 years and have witnessed good market conditions and recession. But it is true that this time the recession period has lasted for a longer period. The people … have kept a lot of patience and should continue with it. I hope and expect that in a short time period, the industry will regain its lost momentum,” Dholakia can be heard saying in video.
