Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Monday flagged off the first bus of the ‘Chalo, Kumbh Chale’ initiative in Gandhinagar. Carrying 45 passengers, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus left for Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj for the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, according to a government statement. The Gujarat government has launched the three-night and four-days economy package of Rs 8,100 for the devotees under which they can travel in an AC volvo bus and will get an accommodation at a dormitory facility set up at Gujarat Pavilion in Prayagraj. The first bus under the ‘Chalo, Kumbh Chale’ initiative was flagged off by the CM while showing a saffron flag, said an official release. The economy package has been jointly designed by GSRTC and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL). The online booking for the package had started from Saturday and was fully booked within hours of the launch, according to the statement. Everyday, one bus of GSRTC will leave from Ranip Bus Depot for Prayagraj, it added. The service will be on till February 25. To ensure that more devotees can visit Maha Kumbh along with their families, a decision will be taken as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, said the statement. Apart from the CM, MLA Rita Patel, Mayor Miraben Patel and top officials of the Tourism and GSRTC were also present.
