(Representational image/File) In the last two-year period, there has been a 16.5 per cent spike in the number of bribery cases registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Gujarat Police, the state legislature was informed Friday.
Compared to the 145 bribery cases registered in 2021, the cases rose to 169 in 2022, the state government said in a written reply to a question by Shailesh Parmar, the Congress MLA from Danilimda constituency of Ahmedabad. The total money involved in these bribery cases is Rs 2.23 crore, the government added.
During this period, bribery cases have also been lodged against 86 personnel of the Gujarat Police. This includes cases against 40 policemen in 2021 and 46 others in 2022.
