Gujarat BJP is all set to get a new president by October 4 with the party issuing a notification for the election of its state president and national council members on Thursday. The term of current state president C R Paatil ended in July 2023 after which he has been on an extension for over two years.
According to a party release, interested candidates will have to file their nomination forms between 11 am and 2 pm on Friday. The forms will be scrutinised between 3 pm and 4 pm the same day. The candidates can withdraw their nomination forms between 5 pm and 5.30 pm.
Apart from the post of the president, election has also been notified for 39 members of the national council from Gujarat.
If required, the voting will take place between 10 am and 11 am on October 4, Saturday, and the counting of votes will be done between 11 am and 11.30 am. If only one candidate files the nomination on Friday, they are expected to be declared elected unopposed. As per the party’s Constitution, around 292 members are expected to vote in the election.
As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sangathan Parv in which its various taluka and district/city units have already been formed, the party has appointed Uday Kangad as the election officer and Dhaval Dave and Hitesh Patel as co-incharge for the election process.
