With the state being gripped by a cold wave for the last three days, Naliya in Kutch district recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 8 degree Celsius on Friday, according to the information from Gujarat unit of India Meteorological Department. Looking at the cold temperatures, the authorities recently changed the timings of Ahmedabad Municipal Schools, delaying the same by 35 minutes and 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon shift, respectively. From 7.20 am the schools will now open at 7.55 am and the afternoon shift of 12.20 pm will start at 12.35 pm till January 15, said Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation school board officials. The officials added that this is done annually keeping the winters in mind. On Friday, Ahmedabad recorded 13.3 degree Celsius. Other centres that recorded a dip in temperature included Rajkot at 9.8 degree Celsius, Deesa 10.4, Keshod 10.4, Kandla Airport 10.9, Vadodara and Bhuj 12, Gandhinagar 12.6 degree Celsius. The IMD has also issued a forecast of ‘no large change in the minimum temperatures during next five days likely over the region’.
