Bhemabhai Chaudhary, the vice-president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat, joined the Congress in the presence of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Shaktisinh Gohil on Sunday.
Along with Govind Parmar, the district president of Dahod, Chaudhary was among the several AAP leaders who joined the grand old party recently.
After switching sides, Chaudhary said only Congress “can bring about a political change in Gujarat where inflation, unemployment, and corruption have spread during the two-decade-long BJP rule in the state”.
There has been a string of exits from the AAP over the last few months in Gujarat with many leaders and party workers joining Congress.
When asked about the recent exits from the party, AAP Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi told The Indian Express, “This is a road for struggle, and it is long. Every day, there are multiple people joining and leaving the party. Being in the party, if you perform badly then the person has to be accountable to the party, thus, there will be problems for them. It is not possible to keep everyone happy within the party.”
“The road to struggle is hard, but the AAP will become stronger,” he added.
