GSRTC bus driver held for drink-driving as Morbi-bound bus skids off carriageway
The driver lost control of the bus while negotiating a speed-breaker in Mansar.

The police on Monday arrested a driver of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) in Morbi district on Monday for allegedly drink driving, causing the bus with passengers on board to skid off the carriageway of a highway.
The police have identified the arrested as Ramesh Damor, 46, driver of the bus bound for Morbi town.
According to the police, the incident took place around 7.30 pm on Sunday when the driver lost control of the GSRTC bus that came from Chhota Udepur town in central Gujarat while negotiating a speed-breaker in Mansar, a village down the highway from Halvad.
The officials at Halvad police station have registered a case against Damor, a resident of Bugadh village in Mahisagar district.
Police said that the passengers created a ruckus after the bus even skidded off the carriageway. They, along with bus conductor Arjunsinh Parmar, forced Damor to stop the bus at Shiroi, the village down from Mansar, the First Information Report stated.
“By that time, a team from GSRTC Vigilance wing also reached Shiroi. The conductor and the officers of the Vigilance squad found that the driver was drunk. After arranging an alternate bus for the passengers, the conductor and the Vigilance officers brought the driver to Halvad station,” police inspector Dipak Dhol, in-charge of Wankaner police station, told The Indian Express.
Dhol said that the bus driver was booked under Section 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code as well as under the Gujarat Prohibition Act for consuming and possessing liquor.
The police inspector further said the driver was released on bail on Monday.
