Gujarat is the only state to have taken up the task to enable the poor to fight against poverty by directly disbursing aid to them through the Garib Kalyan Mela in each of the 26 districts,CM Narendra Modi said on Sunday.
As part of the series of 50 Garib Kalyan Melas,monetary benefits worth Rs 90 crore will be distributed among 47,000 poor people in Anand,Umreth,Borsad and Anklavtalukas of Anand district in the presence of Modi at Vallabh Vidyanagar on Monday. One such function was held in Vadodara today.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Fakirbhai Vaghela and Parliamentary secretary Sundarsinh Chauhan will distribute sops worth Rs 16 crore to 15,490 beneficiaries from Anand taluka. Minister of State for Home Amit Shah and Parliamentary secretary Yogesh Patel will distribute Rs 21 crore among 8,275 beneficiaries from Umreth taluka.
Minister of State for Education Jaysinh Chauhan and deputy whip in the Assembly,Ambalal Rohit will distribute Rs 40 crore among 16,226 beneficiaries from Borsad. Minister of State for Tribal Welfare Jashwantsinh Bhabhor and Parliamentary Secretary Jaydrathsinh Parmar will distribute Rs 13 crore among 7,090 beneficiaries from Anklav.
Modi had distributed certificates,title deeds and cheques worth Rs 14 crore among 30,000 beneficiaries in Bharuch district on Saturday.
So far,such melas have been held in Amreli,Gondal,Dediapada and Bharuch.
