Four people, including a 10-year-old boy, died in Surat in kite flying related incidents during the last two days during Uttarayan festival. According to official sources, 10-year-old Abhishek Devnarayan Jayeshwal, a resident of Aaspaas nagar in Limbayat, was flying kite on top of a water tank on Tuesday evening, when his legs slipped and fell. Abhishek, who incurred severe injuries, was rushed to the Surat Municipal Corporation-run SMIMER Hospital where he died on Wednesday morning. In a second incident, 50-year-old Kishor Chauhan, a resident of Bhagwati Apartment in Varachha, fell from the terrace of his building on Tuesday afternoon, while trying to catch a kite. Kishor was rushed to a private hospital by his family members where he was declared dead on arrival by doctors. In a third incident, 19-year-old Akash Patel, a resident of Hanuman street in Sagrampura, fell from the terrace of a three-storied building, while flying kite and succumbed to severe injuries on the spot on Tuesday evening. Similarly, 18-year-old Ashok Darjee, a resident of Ranchod nagar at Magdalla in Surat, was hit by a speeding car, while running on the road to catch kites nearby his house, on Wednesday afternoon. The passerby who spotted the incident, immediately took Ashok to New Civil Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
