The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) lodged an FIR with the Rajkot police on Saturday against the arrested policeman Ashish Pandya for reportedly going missing from duty without information to the ACB. It has been filed under Section 145 of the Bombay Police Act.
Pandya was arrested from the ACB office at Rajkot on Thursday by the state CID for his alleged role in the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case.
ACB director Chitranjan Singh said: We had set up an inquiry on Pandyas absence at ACB. We have found that he had not produced any documents to go on leave. Moreover,he submitted a medical certificate after reporting back on duty, but that was also bogus. He went abroad without seeking the DGPs permission, which is against the given norm.
Pandya had joined the ACB Rajkot on April 10 and did not report on duty from April 15. During his interrogation,he told the CID that he took leave on April 15 and left for Nairobi on April 18. After going missing for over a month,Pandya reported on duty at 11am in the ACB office at Rajkot on May 13.
