Condemning the raid on journalists associated with news portal NewsClick in New Delhi, former Gujarat chief minister Suresh Mehta, on behalf of his outfit Jan Abhiyan Badle Gujarat, on Saturday objected to the trend of “many being labelled as anti-nationals”.

Addressing mediapersons in Ahmedabad, Mehta said, “Be it journalists, writers or cartoonists, they are being labelled as anti-nationals…We felt it is important that a signal shouldn’t go as if Gujarat is sitting silent (after the raids).”

Lamenting at the “state of affairs in Gujarat”, Mehta said: “Gujarat is becoming a drug centre… the situation is such that today, it is being admitted that Gujarat is a drug trafficking centre. The new generation is becoming drug addicts…”
