Eight government teachers from Ahmedabad district, including those who have managed to convince private schools students to join government schools, will be felicitated by the state government on Teacher’s Day on September 5.
Among the award winners are Rakesh Kumar Upadhayay, a teacher from Ranip Primary School Number 8, who in the 12 years has brought 97-98 per cent of students from private schools to the government school.
A statement by the district authorities said that Upadhayay has been making door-to-door visits to convince parents to join government schools. He will be among the five teachers to receive the award at the taluka level.
Prashant Nainani of Charanagar Gujarati School Number 1, Bijalben Gandhi of English Primary School of Dholka taluka, Beena Banker of Badarkha Primary School and Parulben Rathod from Dascroi taluka are the four other teachers to receive the award at the taluka level.
Among the three other teachers who will get the award at the district level is Poulomi Mehta of Shahpur Gujarati School Number 15. Mehta will be awarded for popularising mathematics and science among student. The other teachers who will be awarded at district level are Vasudev Patel of Jhanjharwa Primary School of Mandal and Vijay Kumar Patel of Chuvad-Dangarva Primary School of Detroj.
