The Congress said it will help state administration wherever needed.
All 33 districts in the state have launched helpline numbers, an official release highlighted. People can also reach out for help on the toll-free number 1077, the release added. To help out the industries during the cyclone, the Industries Department has also launched a separate helpline with a ‘State Control Room for Industries’ at GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) headquarters.
An official release stated GIDC officials will monitor the control room and the helpline on an hourly basis. In the eight coastal districts likely to be affected by the cyclone, the release added, there are 39 industrial estates having 8,223 industrial units.
The Labour and Employment Department has launched a helpline to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclone, as per officials.
The ruling BJP has also launched two helpline numbers and one WhatsApp number for people to reach out to for any kind of help during the period.
Gujarat BJP chief CR Paatil held a virtual meeting of party office bearers like district and city presidents, mayors and deputy mayors, and district panchayat presidents from the party on Monday while instructing them to ensure that people face minimum difficulty. He also called upon party office bearers from districts that are not to be affected by the cyclone to go to the districts which are going to be affected and provide help to the people and the state administration.
Meanwhile, the Congress too has started a central helpline for vulnerable regions in Ahmedabad while launching helplines and control rooms in districts like Kutch, Morbi, Junagadh, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Porbandar.
At a time of natural calamity, Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said, his party is trying to be helpful to the state administration as much as it can. “The state administration is working. We have launched control rooms and helplines to ensure that whatever difficulty people face during the cyclone can be connected to the authorities. Our party president Shaktisinh Gohil has also written to the state government with some suggestions to deal with the situation and assurance of extending any help that is required,” Doshi said.
The AAP has also launched its helpline numbers in Kutch, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Amreli, and Bhavnagar districts.
