Cops recover 131 kg of explosives in Surendranagar

The Surendranagar police on Thursday arrested a scrap dealer with explosives,weighing around 131 kg.

The Surendranagar police on Thursday arrested a scrap dealer with explosives,weighing around 131 kg.

The explosives,including shrapnel shells and gun powder,were seized from a scrap shop,Pitalwala Brothers,in Tanki Bazar Chowk in Surendranagar.

The police have started the process to get the remand custody of the shop owner Mansoor Ibrahim,a resident of Wadhwan. According the police,they arrested Ibrahim after getting a tip off from the Special Operations Group (SOG).

The SOG had reportedly conducted a raid at the shop on Wednesday night,following a tip off. During the raid,the officials recovered explosives,including 79 kg of shrapnel shells,10 kg of gun powder and 43 kg of other explosive material.

The police are seeking over 10 days remand custody of the accused,who will primarily be interrogated about the place from where he procured the huge amount of explosives,whether the consignment was made for a particular group or individual and who are the buyers.
