The IT cell of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Tuesday decided to reshuffle IT in-charges in some of the districts, following complaints that one-man,one post formula of Rahul Gandhi had not been followed in appointments. GPCC received complaints stating that leaders, who were already holding one post in the party, were also given the assignments of IT cell in several districts, like Surat and Vadodara,in violation of the one man,one post formula.
Speaking to this newspaper,IT cell chairman Rohan Gupta said that the issue was brought to his notice. I have discussed the matter with state party president Arjun Modhwadia and decided to take corrective action.
He said that the reshuffle of IT cell office-bearers would be effected in a week or so after collecting details from different places where a person already holding a post in the party had been given the charge of IT cell as well. We are totally aware of Rahul Gandhis formula and we are following it completely. But the mistakes in a few cases happened because of lack of knowledge about people holding another posts,he said. Besides Gupta, there are 8 vice-presidents,16 general secretaries and 22 secretaries in the states IT cell.
According to Gupta,IT cell presidents have been appointed in all the 33 districts, with 40 to 50 people working in the IT cell of each district. Now,we are extending IT cell to the taluka level and we will be completing it by March 2014, he said. He said that it was necessary to prepare the partys cyber army up for the grassroots level to counter BJP and Chief Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed that Congress partys IT cell would be stronger than BJPs. He said that while BJPs IT cell comprised paid people,Congress partys IT cell was based totally on party workers and activists on a voluntary basis.
According to Gupta, there were 1,400 applications with him from all over the state,a large number of them from the tribal Dangs and Dahod districts,to join the partys cyber army. He said that the IT cell was also working to give official email accounts of the Indian National Congress to all the office-bearers from the state at the taluka level with a view to integrating them with party leaders from all over the country.
