Chief Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate a state-of-the-art childrens home in Vadodara on Saturday. According to district officials,the unique centre has been set up at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Centre will rehabilitate orphans,abandoned and lost children,child labourers,and children of poor single parents. The Vadodara District Probation and After Care Association (VDPACA),in collaboration with the Vadodara district administration,took up the project and completed it in a year and a halfs time. The building has four dormitories with beds and cupboards,and has the capacity to house 100 children. Modern classrooms have been built to provide formal as well as computer training. The boarders will be able to enjoy indoor games and perform cultural activities at the modern indoor games hall apart from the basketball and volleyball courts. There is also an open-air amphitheatre. At the moment,the home has 42 children. To provide the best education to children,reputed educational institutions like Navrachana High School,Sama and Baroda High School,Danteshwar have agreed to provide educational expertise and provide them free education in their schools. The entire complex will have CCTV surveillance and EARS will be maintained for their attendance. A 24-hour Child Helpline (1098) has also been made available for any emergency.
