Class 12 student dies by suicide in Ahmedabad, probe on

“She was a decent girl in terms of discipline and behaviour and loved by almost every teacher. The news came as a big shock to us. She has been studying with us since she was in Class 2. Everyone in the school knew her well,” the school principal told The Indian Express on the condition of anonymity.

“She was a medical student. She took her half yearly exam on Tuesday and was happy,” the principal added.

According to the principal, the victim’s elder brother is also an alumnus of the same school.

On Thursday, the victim’s teachers visited her house to pay their condolences to the family. Her teachers shared that she “was a bright student” and they “did not notice any behavioural change in her”.

Police filed an accidental death (AD) report in connection with the case and are investigating the matter. Providing details of the case, an inspector said, “No suicide letter has been found from the spot but we have filed an AD and are investigating her death. We will be speaking to the family in a few days as they are grieving at the moment.”

Meanwhile, the private school had been holding regular counselling sessions after the Maninagar stabbing incident to focus on the mental health of the students and teachers, said sources.
