“On Friday,Solanki and his accomplice, who had come to the Malaviyanagar police station for interrogation, were arrested. They will be produced in a court for remand custody,” said the Malaviyanagar police.

In a mega drive launched by taxmen in the last week of June, raids were conducted at 42 places in Rajkot, including on eight builders and four government contractors.

At two places — Pradhyuman Villa owned by Jadeja on Kalawad Road and Jivraj Bhavan owned by Solanki in Mota Mava — sleuths were allegedly assaulted and documents looted from them.

On the same day,the I-T officials led by Chowdhary were allegedly manhandled by Jadeja when they reached his residence.

According to the complaint lodged by Chowdhary, the builder’s henchmen manhandled the team and when Jadeja arrived, they took away three suitcases containing I-T documents. Chowdhary also alleged he and his officials were given life threats.
