The Bhavnagar district police on Tuesday arrested the brother-in-law of paper leak whistleblower and AAP leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja in the alleged extortion case of Rs 1 crore linked to the dummy candidate scam.
A D Khat, the Bhavnagar Circle Inspector, said, “Shivbhadrasinh alias Shivubha Gohil, one of the brothers-in-law of Jadeja, was arrested on Tuesday. We recovered Rs 25.5 lakh from him.”
Of the six accused in this case, five have been arrested so far, including Jadeja.
In a statement, the police said the money was recovered from Gohil’s partner Sanjay Jethwa, which he had received from Gohil 15 days ago.
The bag also contained a DVR hard disk containing footage from CCTV camera installed at Gohil’s office, where the deal for extortion was struck, the police added.
In all, of the Rs 1 crore allegedly extorted by Jadeja, Rs. 73.5 lakh have been recovered.
