Bollywood stars of yesteryears,Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman,and Mahima Chaudhary will descend on the state in the next few days to campaign for the political parties they are reportedly close to. According to the BJP leadership,Hema Malini,a Lok Sabha member and Smriti Malhotra Irani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame will canvass for the party,although the dates have not been finalised. A state BJP leader told Newsline that the party had asked for more film personalities to be sent to the state for campaign. Film actors Paresh Raval,Manoj Joshi,Mahesh Kanodia and Hitu Kanodia are already in the field,canvassing for the party. Meanwhile,Congress Badruddin Sheikh,who is handling the election campaign wing,said that party had asked for Celina Jaitley,Nagma,Govinda,Asrani and Zeenat Aman to campaign for the party. He said the national leadership had agreed to send the film artistes to Gujarat,but the dates are yet to be decided. Asked if the actors help in getting votes,Sheikh said they help in pulling the crowd and creating an atmosphere in favour of the party. Jagdish Bhavsar of the BJP said that as a large number of people come to see them,the actors could convince the people in their own filmy style to vote for a particular party.
