BJP suspends 3 Jamnagar councillors for anti-party activities

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended its three Jamnagar councillors on the charges of their involvement in anti-party activities during recent Lok Sabha elections.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended its three Jamnagar councillors on the charges of their involvement in anti-party activities during recent Lok Sabha elections.

The party circles believe the anti-party activities carried out by their own men contributed to the BJP losing the Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat to the Congress.

According to BJP sources,the three councillors namely Pravin Madam,Keshubhai Madam and Manjula Dabhi have been suspended from the party following a series of complaints levelled against them.

Pravin Madam,the BJP councillor elected from ward no 6,while refuting the charges levelled against him,said “From my ward no 6,the party got a lead of 1,600 votes.

I have not indulged into anti-party activities so far.” According to Madam,disciplinary action was taken action against him for his closeness to the Madam family.

Incidentally,the Congress MP elected from Jamnagar Vikram Madam also belongs to the same family and bears the same surname.

According to political experts here,the loss of Jamnagar seat gave a big jolt to BJP as the constituency is considered to be a BJP stronghold. The party is in power in Jamnagar Municipal Corporation,district panchayat,several taluka panchayats and in municipalities. Despite this,the party lost Jamnagar Parliamentary seat to the Congress.
