BJP MLA in porn row resigns from privilege committee

Radhanpur BJP MLA Shankar Chaudhary,who has been accused of watching obscene pictures on iPad in the House along with another party MLA,has resigned as member of the Assembly privilege committee the panel which is investigating the allegation.
Chaudhary resigned on Monday in the wake of the controversy,after which Speaker Ganpat Vasava appointed first time MLA from Jasdan Bharat Boghara as member of the seven-member committee.
Chaudhary was appointed to the committee two years ago. Senior BJP MLA Daulat Desai heads the panel,which has BJP MLAs Vibhavari Dave,Rakesh Shah and Rushikesh Patel,and Congress members Arjun Modhwadia and Bachubhai Kishori as members.
On March 20,Chaudhary and Shehra MLA Jetha Bharwad were allegedly seen surfing porn on the formers iPad during the budget debate.
The next day,Vasava termed news reports in local newspapers as breach of privilege and handed over the probe to the privilege committee.
Subsequently,based on a report by the Gandhinagar forensic science laboratory,which examined the iPad,the Speaker gave Chaudhary a clean chit and blamed the media for defaming him and the house.
