Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Wednesday launched the party’s Gujarat Gaurav Yatra from the Bechraji town of Gujarat’s Mehsana district after paying obeisance to Goddess Bechraji.

Addressing a public gathering at Bechraji before flagging off first of the five legs of Gujarat Gaurav Yatra ahead of the Assembly elections, Nadda said, “This is not the Gaurav Yatra of BJP… It is not the Gaurav Yatra of Gujarat alone, it is the one which is establishing the pride of India… This yatra is the gangotri of the Gaurav Yatra under which the country is taking a long jump (of development) under the leadership of Narendra Modiji to re-establish the country on the world map.”

Adding that each and every citizen of Gujarat is feeling proud with the development of the state, Nadda said, “We want to show you that first we have seen Gujarat’s Vikas Yatra and are (now) seeing the country’s Vikas Yatra.”

Praising the work of PM Modi, Nadda mentioned free Covid vaccination drive, the effort in getting back 22,000 students from Ukraine, which is in conflict with Russia, and the speed with which national highways and railway lines are being laid in the country.

The gathering was also addressed by Union minister and senior BJP leader Parshottam Rupala who highlighted the development Gujarat has undergone in the past 20 years, while citing the examples of setting up of Tata Nano’s manufacturing plant in Sanand and nano urea manufacturing plant in Kalol of Gandhinagar.

In a veiled attack on opposition Congress and AAP, Rupala narrated how the ruling BJP faced difficulties in completing the Narmada Yojana, which is the lifeline of Gujarat.

“Those who were supporting the efforts to stop such ambitious schemes (as Narmada Yojana) are now roaming around seeking votes. We need to remind the people of this,” Rupala said.
