Senior BJP leader and Union Minister for Textiles, Giriraj Singh, on Sunday said that the upcoming Bihar elections will be fought under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by the coalition of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and added that they have raised a slogan on winning 225 seats.

Singh said this while addressing a press conference as he was in Gujarat to participate in Bihar Foundation Day celebrations. March 22 is celebrated as Bihar Day and Singh said that it was decided that the celebration would go on for a month.

The general elections in Bihar are expected to be held during October-November this year.

He said that there are around 15-20 lakh people from Bihar residing in Gujarat with the policy of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’.

“The elections are approaching in Bihar. And we have also given the slogan of (winning) 225 seats in 2025,” Singh said.

In the context of Bihar elections, Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar is changing. He said that 50 lakh families have been brought out of the poverty line in Bihar, and have been given houses, water, power, cooking gas and food grains.

In reply to a question on the Chief Ministerial face of the NDA in Bihar, Singh maintained: “We are fighting the elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar only.”

Responding to a question on Bihar’s Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav alleging that the people of Bihar are distraught by the current NDA government in the state, Singh said, “He has Lalu Prasad YAdav’s rule in front of him that brought disrespect to Bihar; not a single unit of power could be generated…Bihar only got misery.”

“The Charwaha Vidyalaya (schools for cattle grazers) started by Lalu Yadav has ended. In this regime of Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, (we have) IIT, NIT, NIFT, AIIMS, medical college in every district. If that is misery, then I accept it. I don’t have any objection…Let them see Mungerilal ke Sapne… people of Bihar have resolved to remove nepotism from its roots in Bihar.”

Singh also said that Tejashwi’s political equation called ‘MY-BAAP (Muslim-Yadav: Bahujan, Agda (forward castes), Aadhi Aabadi (women), and Poor)’ is also going to be decimated in the upcoming Bihar elections.

The minister also said that the passing of Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament is not going to affect the NDA’s political fortunes in Bihar and that it was brought in for the welfare of poor Muslims and not for any political benefit.

“Not even a brick from a mosque will be taken. The government is not going to interfere with any madrasa, nor will anyone’s land be confiscated. The Tukde-Tukde gang is trying defame Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar in Bihar by spreading rumours,” Singh said.
