Banaskantha woman dies of swine flu

A 23-year-old woman who had tested positive for swine flu on June 21 died on Friday during treatment at the AhmedabadCivil Hospital,health officials said.

A 23-year-old woman who had tested positive for swine flu on June 21 died on Friday during treatment at the AhmedabadCivil Hospital,health officials said.

“The victim — Bhavna Ghevariya — succumbed to the deadly virus today in the Civil Hospital,” said P R Sahay,Banaskantha Chief District Health Officer. “The woman who was pregnant had come to her parents’ place in Haripura village of Vav taluka for delivery. On June 15,she gave birth to a child at a private hospital in Deesa. But her health began to deteriorate since then,” Sahay said.

Looking at her swine flu-like symptoms,the doctors of the private hospital had referred her to the Civil Hospital,where she tested positive for H1N1 virus,he added. Bhavna was a resident of Mukhali village of Badmer district in Rajasthan.

As many as 300 people have died of swine flu in the state till now,out of the over 1,400 people who were infected with the deadly H1N1 virus.
