Banaskantha murder: Another uncle of 18-yr-old arrested, her father still at large
Police have formed several teams to locate, apprehend and arrest the main accused, Sendha Patel.

Even as Sendha Darga Patel, the father of Chandrika Chaudhary, who is the main accused in her murder, remained absconding for almost a week since a police inquiry found that the death of the 18-year-old woman in her home was allegedly an honour killing, the Banaskantha Police on Monday arrested an uncle of the deceased on murder charges.
The police arrested Naran Sava Patel in the murder case in which Chandrika’s father and his brother, Shivram Darga Patel, were booked on August 6, for the alleged murder and hurried cremation that took place on June 24 and 25.
Naran Sava Patel is the cousin of Sendha and Shivram.
Naran’s name was not in the original FIR but was added to it after police found reasonable grounds to place him under arrest, officials probing the case said.
Police have formed several teams to locate, apprehend and arrest the main accused, Sendha Patel.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suman Nala, Sendha had gone missing when the preliminary inquiry into the death of Chandrika was underway in the first week of August and hadn’t been seen since then.
Family members of Chandrika had been booked under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 123 (causing hurt by poisonous substance), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence), and 54 (abettor present) based on a complaint by Haresh Chaudhary, the live-in partner of Chandrika.
According to police, Sendha and Shivram had allegedly killed Chandrika on June 24 by giving her sleeping pills and then hanging her. They then allegedly told the rest of the family that she died by suicide. They then informed the villagers in Dantiya that Chandrika died of natural causes.
She was cremated the next morning, on June 25. The family also managed to obtain a death certificate, which was submitted in the Gujarat High Court, leading to the disposal of the habeas corpus plea filed by Chaudhary. Later, Chaudhary filed a complaint with police seeking a probe into Chandrika’s death.
