At energy meet in Moscow,Modi lauds GSPC’s work

Addressing the 4th International Energy Week Conference at the World Trade Centre in Moscow,Chief Minister Narendra Modi praised the ‘achievements’ of the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) in the hydrocarbon sector.

Addressing the 4th International Energy Week Conference at the World Trade Centre in Moscow,Chief Minister Narendra Modi praised the ‘achievements’ of the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) in the hydrocarbon sector. He said the corporation has discovered 20 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas in the K-G basin off the Andhra Pradesh coast — the largest gas discovery in India till date.

According to sources,a delegation of Russia’s leading telecommunication company,SIS TEMA,will visit Gujarat shortly following an invitation extended by Modi to set up a telecommunication equipment production centre in the state.

A statement issued by the state Information Department said on Monday that Modi said at the conference that even countries like Australia,Egypt and Yemen have entered into agreements with the GSPC for exploration of oil and gas in their new blocks.

He said Gujarat was ready to contribute to the global energy requirement.

Gujarat has created its distinct image in energy sector by adopting ultra-modern technology and energy management and will now concentrate more on exploration,production,transmission and distribution sectors by establishing an “integrated energy value chain”,said Modi at the conference.

He further said that 1,420 km of the 2,200 km-long gas grid pipeline being laid across the state has been made operational.

Describing Gujarat as India’s “petro capital”,Modi told the conference that the state accounted for 55 per cent of the country’s total on-shore crude oil production and 39 per cent of the natural gas production.

He said Gujarat has the maximum number of oil and gas fields in the country.

The official statement quoting Modi said the CM during his current tour to Moscow visited

SISTEMA’s production complex and sought its cooperation in telecom technology.

SISTEMA is a world famous company in the field of telecom,energy and disaster management appliances,the statement added.
