He added that at the summit, potential areas of US-India collaboration include technology and education. The Arizona State University will launch a Gujarati version of an entrepreneurship training programme and an MoU (memorandum of understanding) is being signed with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, announced United States Consul General Mike Hankey on Wednesday. In his nearly two decades of diplomatic experience, he has never witnessed such a warm and deep relationship between India and America as the two countries currently share, Hankey asserted.
As the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 kicked off on Wednesday, the US Consul General addressed a US-India Business Council (USIBC) seminar.
Speaking to The Indian Express on the sidelines of the summit, he said that the Thunderbird School of Global Management of the Arizona State University is due to announce “a localised Gujarati language version of an entrepreneurship training program”. This will be a part of its 100 million learner’s programme, which aims to reach 100 million learners globally by 2030. The course will be offered online.
Asked about the potential visit of Tesla CEO Elon Musk — the Gujarat government has been purportedly attempting to bring him on board for the summit — Hankey said, “It is a private company, I don’t have any information about it.” “I am being asked what about this company, what about that car company, what about the CEO… what can the US government say? I say we are going to be here with partners like the USIBC to build the pathway. I am very confident that the US companies, once the path is clear, are going to be able to do excellent work,” he stated in his address.
“Specifically talking about west India, we are doing a lot… We have a trade delegation coming in March that is going to bring cutting-edge US technology on solid waste management and environmental protection… The message they are going to get from me is do not just come to India to sell your product, come for that plus-developing together an Indian partner, producing together an Indian partner and selling together with an Indian partner to the world,” Hankey added.
Hankey also mentioned that India and the US share significant business relations with the US expressing eagerness to be a partner in India’s space development.
He added that at the summit, potential areas of US-India collaboration include technology and education.
