Union Home Minister Amit Shah will award Indian citizenship to 188 Hindu refugees from neighbouring countries on August 18 under the provisions of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, said Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi in a press statement Friday.
“Those persons who have taken refuge in India owing to harassment in neighboring countries will be awarded citizenship,” the release stated.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also remain present in the function to be held in Ahmedabad.
