AMC cancels appointment of 8 officials after anomalies found in their recruitments
After anomalies were found in the recruitment of the technical supervisors of the AMC, an FIR was lodged against head clerk Pulkit C Satwara on January 1, 2025.

Amid police investigation into the alleged discrepancies in the recruitments, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has cancelled appointment of eight of its officials including assistant surveyor and sub-inspector from its estate department and six from health department citing anomalies in their recruitment.
After anomalies were found in the recruitment of the technical supervisors of the AMC, an FIR was lodged against head clerk Pulkit C Satwara on January 1, 2025. The appointments, done on a trial basis, were cancelled through an order issued on December 27, 2024.
To verify other recruitments, Mayor Pratibha Jain and Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani had formed a committee comprising three Head of the Departments and two deputy municipal officers. The committee includes labour officer, director (vigilance), establishment officer, deputy municipal commissioner (administration) and deputy municipal commissioner (west zone).
“The case of recruitment is under police investigation. During examination, we found discrepancies in the marks secured by some candidates and the marks announced. It has been found that the head clerk, Pulkit C Satwara, played a key role in the anomalies in these eight appointments. The AMC has not looked into the monetary aspects, if anything involved, as the police investigation covers that part,” Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani told The Indian Express.
The data of the recruitment done between January 1,2021 to August 10,2025 was examined, Pani said.
“Out of the recruitments from May 2023 to October 2024, written exams for more than 37 posts in different departments of AMC was conducted by reputed institutes such as the Gujarat University, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management and about 2,786 candidates were selected and 1,316 candidates were in the waiting list. The selected candidates were appointed at different places on a trial basis with fixed salary as per rules. The marks of the candidates selected for appointment were compared with the result given by the agency,” a statement issued by the AMC on Thursday said.
